BRIDGEWATER, NJ - In the 2017-2018 school year, students in Eisenhower Intermediate School’s three Mathleague teams qualified in state competitions.
The nine members of the three teams qualified, with Christopher Qiu, Evan Xie, Gracelynne Hao and Sushanth Elangovan in team one; Kevin Wang, Iris Pan, Sharon Lin and Ethan Wang in team two; and Daniel Gao in team three.
At the 2018 State Math League Championships May 2, five students ranked individual top 10. Qiu earned state individual first place, Xie earned state third place, Hao earned state fifth place, Elangovan earned state eighth place and Wang earned state ninth place. Eisenhower Intermediate School won the 2018 State Math League Championship.
In addition, Qiu, Xie, Hao and Elangovan were invited to participate in the National Math League Championships.
Following the state championship win in May, Qiu, Hao and Elangovan traveled to Texas for the Math League National Championship at Texas A&M University June 16. The team won ninth place in the team test.
In addition, Qiu won national seventh overall in the sixth grade individual category, Elangovan earned national 28 and Hao earned national 38. All team members earned top 40 among 300 national top math competitors.
