BRIDGEWATER, NJ - From mid-February to March, the BRHS Tutoring Club hosted a book drive that collected test prep books relating to the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, ACT and AP tests, as well as high school summer reading books.
The drive was a resounding success, as over 300 books were collected. BRHS senior Halanna Yuh, president of the Tutoring Club, planned and organized the drive.
“I decided to host this book drive because after being officially done with standardized tests in January, I have so many prep books lying around that I am no longer using,” Yuh said. “Despite being used, these books still contain relevant information, and I don’t like seeing things go to waste. So why not give them to students who really need them?”
All books will be distributed to various charities supporting low income students, youth in foster care, homeless, and students who cannot easily access test prep materials. The book drive would not have been such a huge success without the support of Michelle Henry, advisor of the Tutoring Club, student officers Ishita Khanna, Tyler Alvarez and Kevin Surette, and all the teachers and students at BRHS who helped advertise the drive and donated books.
