BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Township Councilman Matthew Moench announced a new volunteerism initiative called #BridgewaterCares to encourage volunteerism during the holiday season.
According to a release, it is a new social media campaign.
"I'm a lifelong Bridgewater resident, and one of the hallmarks of our community has always been our dedication to helping those in need," Moench said in the release. "During the holiday season, this dedication kicks into overdrive."
"My goal with #BridgewaterCares is to highlight the great work our residents are doing for worthy causes all across Central Jersey," he added. "I want to connect good causes with good people and create an interconnected community of caring for the holiday season."
Through the initiative, the release said, when Bridgewater residents volunteer, they can post about it on social media and use the hashtag #BridgewaterCares. With the campaign, Moench and his wife Stephanie, who is co-sponsoring the initiative, will promote each post to highlight the people and charities doing great work for the community.
"We'll also do our best to match residents who want to donate their time with worthy causes in need of help," Matthew Moench said. "Our hope is that individual stories of volunteerism, centralized and promoted through #BridgewaterCares, will inspire our entire community to band together this holiday season to help those in need."
Bridgewater residents can start using the hashtag immediately, and find out more information on Facebook (www.facebook.com/BridgewaterCares), Instagram (www.instagram.com/BridgewaterCares) and Twitter (twitter.com/BWNJCares).
