BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District is participating in Fill the Bus!, an initiative to help the victims of hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
Anyone looking to participate is asked to bring new packaged supplies to the Wade Administration Building, on Newmans Lane in Martinsville. Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday, Sept. 11 through Sept. 15, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Items being accepted are dish soap, extension cords, work gloves, rope, safety, glasses, face masks, trash bags, batteries, bug spray, diapers, first aid kits, band-aids, comfort kits (soap, shampoo, toothpaste), new socks/underwear, hand sanitizer, pencils, pens, notebooks, three-ring binders, folders, index cards, rulers, glue sticks, erasers and backpacks.
The district is teaming up with Oncourse for the initiative. The bus will be coming to pick up the donated supplies Sept. 18 to bring to those in need following the hurricanes.
The state-wide effort is New Jersey's way of giving back after all that was done during Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
