BOUND BROOK, NJ - Clients of the Food Bank Network of Somerset County will be able to pick up groceries at the warehouse, off Chimney Rock Road, until 6 p.m. on the last two Wednesdays of each month, beginning in September, according to a release.
The new hours, the release said, are part of efforts by the food bank to make its food distribution more convenient for clients. They have been scheduled to better provide food in the weeks after many families run out of benefits from the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, the release said.
Warehouse hours, aside from Wednesday, for food pickup and donations are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The warehouse is at 9 Easy Street in Bound Brook.
In addition, the release said, food bank clients can select their own food choices at the warehouse instead of receiving pre-packaged bags of food. Foods offered include fresh vegetables, fruits and meats donated by local grocers and farms, as well as canned, prepared and boxed foods donated by residents.
