BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Girl Scout Emily Reu heard that the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter, in Bridgewater, was in need of donations, so she reached out to the Bridgewater-based Green Planet Band to see if they could help.

The Band – with scouts Kylee, Tyler and Anna Rapp, and Mama Lisa – is performing a virtual concert May 2 at 7 p.m. to raise money for the shelter. The concert can be viewed on the Green Planet Facebook page.

Homeless animals are in need now more than ever during these times, and any donation will help make an impact. Donations can be made to a GoFundMe page at gf.me/u/xymaas.

Donations can be made at any time, before and after the concert, and the Green Planet Band is asking everyone to share the benefit concert and fundraiser with others. The concert will also be replayed on the Facebook Page.

In addition, the Green Planet Band is trying to spread a little cheer for those trying to celebrate a special occasion while staying home in quarantine.

The Green Planet Band taped a performance of "Birthday," a song by the Beatles from their 1968 double album, "The White Album." The song was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

Anyone celebrating a birthday is invited to send the birthday video to their loved ones.

The Green Planet Band is a professional classic rock act, performing music by such artists as Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Journey, Neil Diamond, Buddy Holly, Elvis Costello and more.
