NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - Tim's Rangers once again headed to the annual 5K Celebration of Life, sponsored by the New Jersey Sharing Network, to advocate for the importance of organ donation.
The Flavin family, of Bridgewater, participates every year in honor of Tim Flavin, who, about 20 years ago, was hit by a car crossing the street at Finderne Avenue, and died from his injuries. His family donated his corneas and heart valves to give others another chance at life.
In 2013, the family was invited to run a 5K, and then they heard about the one through NJ Sharing Network. In 2014, they formed Team Tim's Rangers to honor the 12-year-old.
The NJ Sharing Network hopes to raise $1.25 million to increase the number of lives saved through research, family support, public awareness and education about organ and tissue donations and transplantation.
