BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School, in Bridgewater, has announced that it will be closed from March 17 through March 29.

The school will be implementing its School Related Closure Preparedness Plan, and will assess the circumstances again by March 27.

The school will open March 16 for instructors and educational support personnel only to develop their flexible instructional plans. This will allow the days to be counted toward the 180-day educational requirement, as per state mandate.

Teachers will be communicating more details regarding instructional expectations via email to students following Monday's professional development day, according to a letter from Superintendent Chrys Harttraft.

"We recognize that the decision to close schools will create unprecedented challenges for our entire educational community, but we also recognize our responsibility in addressing this important public health concern," she said in the letter. "Our decision coincides with most of the receiving districts in Somerset County, despite health experts' indication that Somerset County's risk is 'none to minimal.' Taking proactive measure at this time is prudent."
