BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The female pedestrian killed when she was hit by two vehicles at the intersection of Union Avenue and Finderne Avenue March 24 has been identified as a 68-year-old Bridgewater woman.

With the help of the Northern Regional Medical Examiner's Office, the female victim was identified as Joanne Herbert. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fatal motor vehicle crash occurred at 1:02 p.m. March 24. Police said Herbert was walking southbound and crossing Union Avenue in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a 2001 International tractor trailer being driven by Kevin Sonnon, of Pennsylvania.

She was then hit by a 2018 Hyundai Elantra being driven by Richard Katz, of Bedminster.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, police said, and no charges have been filed at this point.
