BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A woman was killed on Union Avenue Tuesday afternoon after she was struck by two cars while crossing the street at the intersection of Union Avenue and Finderne Avenue, according to a release from Bridgewater Township Police.

According to the release, the Bridgewater Township Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau and Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team are investigating the fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred at 1:02 p.m.

Police said the female victim, who has not yet been identified, was walking southbound and crossing Union Avenue in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a 2001 International tractor trailer being driven by Kevin Sonnon, of Pennsylvania. The victim was then hit by a 2018 Hyundai Elantra being driven by Richard Katz, of Bedminster.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, police said, and no charges have been filed at this point.
