BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Bridgewater woman was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash that killed a Clinton woman on Easton Avenue in Franklin Township Oct. 4.
According to the Franklin Township Police Department, at 1:54 p.m. Oct. 4, the department received multiple 911 calls about a motor vehicle crash on Easton Avenue in the area of Culver Street. When they arrived, officers found a two-car crash with occupants suffering from serious injuries.
The roadway, police said, was immediately closed and a joint investigation involving the Franklin Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team was initiated.
According to police, a 2005 Dodge Ram Pick-up, being driven by Jhonny Herrera, 40, of North Brunswick, was traveling southbound on Easton Avenue when it struck a 1999 Lexus RX300 that was entering the intersection of Easton Avenue from Culver Street. The Lexus was driven by a 59-year-old Clinton woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger of the Lexus, a 60-year-old woman from Bridgewater, was taken to a local area trauma center with serious, possibly life-threatening, injuries.
Herrera was also taken to a local trauma center with non life-threatening injuries.
According to police, Easton Avenue was closed for about four-and-a-half hours during the investigation.
