RARITAN, NJ - The apartment above Nik's Raritan Pub, on Somerset Street, is uninhabitable after a weekend fire, according to Raritan Police Sgt. Everett Holt.

According to Holt, on Dec. 28 at 1:50 p.m., Raritan officers responded to Nik's for a structure fire in an upstairs apartment. Once they arrived on scene, officers determined that the apartment had been evacuated.

Members of the Raritan Borough Fire Department and the Somerville Fire Department arrived on scene, Holt said, and were able to quickly extinguish the fire, which rendered the apartment uninhabitable. In addition, Holt said, Nik's sustained extensive water damage as a result of the fire.
