SOMERVILLE, NJ -Visitors and residents could tell something was happening on Main Street Sunday because there were cars parked up and down the side streets and streets paralleling Main Street, which local officials and businessmen like to call Somerset County's Downtown.

Another clue - there was no mistaking the telltale aroma of smoked barbecue and charcoal fires drifting through the air.

Sunday was the annual Fall Street Fair, with hundreds of vendors and thousands of visitors packing the street.

Food vendors were doing a brisk business, with people waiting in line for Maine lobster, Maryland crab, smoked meats, pizza, ice cream, Thai food and other delicacies.

There were dozens of craft booths selling a variety of merchandise, and vendors selling household products as well, everything from lawn signs and plants to cowboy hats and bracelets, stuffed animals, jewelry, clothing and textiles.

The street fair also hosted several home improvement companies and non-profit organizations hoping for donations.
