BRIDGEWATER, NJ -- The Bridgewater-Raritan and Westfield football programs, seemingly perpetually intertwined, will meet again in 2019.

The Panthers, seeded fifth in the Section 1, Group 5 playoffs, will play at fourth-seeded Westfield next Saturday at 1 p.m. in the first round.

Westfield and Bridgewater-Raritan met in three consecutive sectional Group 5 championship games at MetLife Stadium between 2015 and 2017, with Westfield winning all three. But Bridgewater-Raritan owns a 17-6 victory over Westfield in the 2019 regular season.

Although Bridgewater-Raritan is 4-5, its last two losses have both come against undefeated opponents (Union and Woodbridge). Two other Panthers' losses were against teams that still have only one loss (Ridge and Phillipsburg).

Ridgewood is the top-seeded team in Section 1, Group 5. The winner between Bridgewater-Raritan and Westfield would play the winner of the Paterson Eastside-Ridgewood game in the second round the following weekend.
