ELIZABETH, NJ -- The Bridgewater-Raritan girls basketball team advanced with a 48-40 victory over Elizabeth in the first round of the Section 2, Group 4 state tournament Tuesday afternoon.

Jackie Salvatore scored 17 points for the Panthers (10-18), who jumped out to a 15-8 lead after one quarter and led, 25-17, at the half.

Danielle Orecchio finished with 11 points and Madison Bray and Corinne Nickel each netted six points for BRHS, which devastated Elizabeth from deep: the Panthers sank nine 3-pointers in the game while Elizabeth managed just one shot from downtown.
