UNION, NJ – Bridgewater-Raritan High School senior Matt Sacco remained undefeated this season by winning the 145-pound Region 4 wrestling championship this weekend at Union High School.

Sacco's road to the title started with a victory by pin over Aidan Cunningham of Seton Hall Prep in 3:23. He decisioned Conor Halpin of Cranford, 3-0, in the semifinals, then took a 4-3 decision over Rhise Royster of Rahway in the final round. Sacco is 25-0 this season with 14 pins.

Brett MacMath of Bridgewater-Raritan came in third at 182 pounds, pinning Justin Alpaugh of Cranford in 1:44 in the second round after getting a first-round bye. He defeated Michael Afolabi of Linden in a 12-3 major decision in the third-place match. MacMath was also the leading rusher for the BRHS football team in the fall.

Mike Winchock of BRHS was fourth at 170 pounds, where he defeated Ki'zuran Casey of Plainfield, 5-1, in the second round after a first-round bye. Also competing for the Panthers in the regionals were 285-pounder Dylan Glassberg and Nick Sacco, a 126-pounder who pinned Harrison Kelly of Gov. Livingston in 2:30 and decisioned Hunter Rinehart of Voorhees, 6-2.
