CAMDEN, NJ — Camden residents struggling with food insecurity can take advantage of two distribution events set for Thursday — made possible by the Touch New Jersey Food Alliance.

Firstly, the Department of Human Services in conjunction with Mayor Frank Moran's office will host a food box giveaway at Malandra Hall Center (1200 South Merrimac Road, Camden) at 10 a.m.

Camden city residents must show identification to receive food.

County Board of Freeholders and the Camden County Department of Children’s Services will also hold a snack and food drive at 5:30 p.m. at Camden County College's (CCC) Blackwood campus.

The campus, located at 200 College Dr. in Gloucester Township, will be available for both walk-ups and drive-ups. Various snacks will be on hand including gluten free cookies, kraut chips, potato chips, coconut chips, and fruit snacks.

“Job losses continue to make securing nutritious food a struggle for families throughout the county,” said Freeholder Jonathan Young in a statement. “The pandemic has adversely affected people from every walk of life. We are continuing to work with our partners in the community to make sure that no one is forced to choose between putting food on the table and keeping the lights on."

The free food will be available on a first-come first-serve basis. Face masks and social distancing is required.

If you can't make it Thursday, Camden City plans to host the following events as well:

Nov. 5 - Cramer Hill Center (1035 Reeves Ave.)

Nov. 12 - Isabel Miller Center (8th and Carl Miller Blvd)

Nov. 19 - Martin Luther King Center

Dec. 3 - North Camden Center

Dec. 10 - Malandra Hall Center
