CAMDEN, NJ – The Camden Schools Foundation plans to host its 10th Annual Hall of Fame Dinner–Fundraiser, honoring four people for their many contributions to the City of Camden.

The event is to be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at Tavistock Country Club in Haddonfield, and money raised from the event will contribute to the foundation’s mission of supporting Camden students and schools. The foundation is to induct three members into its Hall of Fame:

  • Scott “Big Scott” Shepherd – Camden High graduate, entertainment producer, community event planner, and philanthropist.

  • Valerie Still – Camden native, all-time leading scorer for University of Kentucky basketball, and former WNBA player. She is an author, philanthropist and coach for Camden High’s girls basketball team.

  • Aletha R. Wright (posthumously) – Former Camden County Freeholder and lifelong advocate for children and families.

The foundation will award attorney Harvey C. Johnson – former Lawnside municipal court judge and a community long-time activist – with the “Founder’s Honor” for helping to establish the Camden Schools Foundation.

The foundation has a history of service to Camden. Since its inception in 2005, it has awarded more than $1.3 million in grants and scholarships to hundreds of Camden students and it supports STEM education and other programs in the school district. 

“The Camden Schools Foundation is proud to welcome these individuals into our Hall of Fame. Their actions and contributions to the City of Camden, and especially the children of Camden, are remarkable and worthy of celebration,” said Lynda McCollum-Hall, the Hall of Fame’s chairperson.

 “We are so excited to recognize such a deserving group of individuals” said CSF Executive Director Dawn Epstein. “These distinguished men and women represent everything the Foundation stands for and we are grateful for the support of the community as we celebrate this prestigious honor.”
