Camden, NJ—Two Camden County Police officers were recognized as "Officers of the Week" for their work in arresting three individuals in possession of 700 bags of heroin.
Sgt. Migdalia Sanchez and Officer Michael Shevlin, who are both assigned to the Neighborhood Response Team covering the city’s 2nd and 4th Districts, were recently recognized for "for their outstanding police work to make the community safer," according to the Camden County Police Department.
On May 11, 2018, Sgt. Sanchez and Officer Shevlin responded to the McDonald’s on Haddon Avenue to investigate a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Upon approaching the vehicle, Sgt. Sanchez observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle in plain view.
Sgt. Sanchez and Officer Shevlin took three individuals inside the vehicle into custody and, upon investigation, found that they were in possession of a loaded Keltec PF9 handgun, more than 700 bags of heroin and counterfeit money.
The suspects were placed under arrest without incident and charged with multiple offenses.
“Sgt. Sanchez’s and Officer Shevlin’s attention to detail and professional execution of their duties led to the removal of three suspects engaged in drug trafficking from the community,” said Lt. John Martinez.
For their outstanding work, Sgt. Sanchez and Officer Shevlin are deserving of recognition as Camden County Police Department Officers of the Week.
