CAMDEN, NJ — A Cherry Hill woman in her 80s was confirmed as the municipality's 163rd coronavirus-related death Monday, the health department announced at midday.

Since the outbreak began Cherry Hill has consistently accounted for the most fatalities in Camden County.

Freeholder Director sent prayers to all of the county's now 550 deaths linked to the respiratory illness, which has ravaged the area since March.

“We are devastated by every life lost to this pandemic, but we are encouraged by the decreasing rate of fatalities in the county," Cappelli said. "This is entirely due to our residents and their collective effort to protect our vulnerable populations by slowing the spread of coronavirus."

With the additional 84 cases confirmed over the weekend, the county now totals 9,181 (1,864 stem from long-term care facilities). LCF have also had 311 resident deaths and three staff deaths.

"If we continue to wear masks, social distance, and work with contact tracers when they call, we will save more lives and further reduce the number of confirmed cases in our community," Cappelli said.
