CAMDEN, NJ— A 17-year-old male from Camden was charged in connection with the fatal shooting that killed a 46-year-old woman in August, authorities said Thursday.
Just before 4 p.m. on Aug. 11, Camden County police found Michelle Huelas, of Buena Vista Township, suffering from a gunshot wound in her car parked in the middle of Broadway near Kaighns Avenue. Huelas was taken to Cooper University Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
According to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, detectives were able to determine the shooting occurred on the 700 block of Anna Sample Lane, and that the teenager had allegedly been in the area at the time of the shooting.
The prosecutor's office said the name of the teenage suspect will not be released because he is a juvenile.
He was charged with first degree murder and is being held at the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center.
