Commemorate National Heritage Month with a Latinx fusion twist.  Explore the blending of Latinx, African, American and various other cultures through a diverse range of activities.

 

Program includes:
* Steven Kroon /Latin Jazz Sextet (Afro-Caribbean, Brazilian) 
* Salsa (Cuban) and Bachata(Dominican)  performance/ lesson
* International food tasting including empanadas 
* Special signature drink

Steven Kroon has been a professional musician for more than 45 years. Born in Harlem, Kroon is mostly noted for adding his percussion sounds to the great late vocalist Luther Van Dross from 1981 to 2001, as well as recording and touring with Ron Carter. He has also recorded and performed with much of the “Who's Who” in the music business, such as Stanley Turrentine, Roberta Flack, Bette Midler, Aretha Franklin, Diana Krall, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga, just to name a few.  Adding to his credits, he has six CD's released in his name: “In My Path," “Senor Kroon,” “El Mas Alla” (Beyond), "Without A Doubt" (Sin Duda), On The #1, and his latest, "In Your Dreams," has received great radio play and great reviews.  Kroon was also recognized by the Downbeat Critics pole as a Rising Star from 2016 through 2019.


Hands on family activities includes:
* Guacamole making
* Carmen Herrera (Cuban) Collages
* Green Screen with Frida Kahlo’s Blue House with Prop for photo ops (Mexican)
* Folklore instruments panpipes ( Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia)
* Face painting
