CAMDEN, NJ — A nautical theme will soon be taking over the Camden FireWorks gallery.
In celebration of the maritime history of Camden, the South Broadway art space is hosting its "A New Berth" exhibition from Sept. 15 to Oct. 13. The exhibition, brought together in partnership with the Camden Shipyard and Maritime Museum, will feature contemporary works from more than 25 artists.
An opening reception for the exhibition will be held Sunday, Sept. 15 at noon. Then as a bonus, visitors can stop by the gallery later that week for "Talk Like a Pirate Day" on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 7 to 10 p.m., catching sea shanties from the New Jersey-based Sea Dogs.
Over the past few months, Camden FireWorks had a call out to artists for submitting work to be considered for the exhibition. Entries were accepted through Aug. 19.
