CAMDEN, NJ — An area of Ferry Avenue along the border of Camden and Woodlynne will close for just under a week beginning Wednesday.

The heavily-used road will be blocked off between Station Drive and Davis Street from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. until Monday, Aug. 26, as utility work gets underway for a new Dollar General Store. Pinnacle Commercial Development notified the county that construction crews are tying into water and sewer lines and installing curbing and sidewalk.

Crews will begin the curb and sidewalk work starting Tuesday, Aug. 27, but will not require a full closure of the roadway. Traffic will be shifted in the same area to accommodate crews and equipment.

“This is a heavily-trafficked area, and motorists should expect sudden stops, shifting traffic patterns, and other changing conditions in the area surrounding construction,” said Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. "This is a multi-stage project and motorists should remain apprised of when detours and closures are changing in order to best plan their route.”

The project is expected to be completed by the end of the workday on Friday, Aug. 30. Scheduling is dependent on weather and may be adjusted due to unforeseen events, officials said.
