CAMDEN, NJ — Long-term care facilities (LCF) in Camden County confirmed their 1,450th positive coronavirus result on Wednesday — as the totals jumped to 6,429 countywide (54 additional in the past 24 hours).

Of the 1,450 confirmed cases in the county's 56 LCF, 1,092 belong to residents while 358 to staff.

Health officials on Tuesday said trends were leaning in the county's favor at these facilities, despite accounting for 232 of the total 313 deaths.

“It is with great sadness that we announce nine additional deaths caused by COVID-19 today," said Freeholder Lou Cappelli this afternoon. "Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those impacted by this virus and their families, and we are wishing a fast and full recovery to everyone who has tested positive."

During the state's daily press briefing Wednesday, State Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said testing at these facilities has been a large focus of the recovery efforts.

“We are continuing to see improvements in our overall growth rate, and the county’s doubling rate has stayed above 30 days for several weeks," said Cappelli. "These encouraging developments are due entirely to the hard work and dedication of our residents. If we continue to social distance, wear a mask, and avoid crowded spaces, we will continue to see the number of new cases in Camden County decrease.”
