CAMDEN, NJ — As Camden County inches toward 6,000 positive COVID-19 cases this week, CAMcare began providing additional testing Monday — including for residents not exhibiting symptoms.
“Testing is the most critical resource in our arsenal as we enter the next phase of this crisis,” said Freeholder Lou Cappelli.
Three of the five new sites (outlined below) are located in the city of Camden — offering up one additional option for the asymptomatic who are seeking screenings. You must make an appointment by calling (856) 536-3266.
“We are excited to have a strong partner in the community who is stepping up and providing testing to anyone who needs it,” Cappelli added. “The more tests we are able to administer, the better we can understand the scope of the challenge we face, and the clearer our vision to fight it becomes.”
The county health department outlined ten additional deaths (272 total) linked to the virus this afternoon, as well as 75 more cases (5,719 total).
“We are in a new phase of this pandemic where data suggests that the state may be safe in reopening certain aspects of our economy. However, we are asking our residents to recognize that this progress will be very quickly be undone if we move too quickly,” Cappelli said. “We all must continue to aggressively social distance and minimize our opportunities to spread or contract coronavirus. Mitigation is the only tool we have until a real antiviral or vaccine becomes available, and we must follow the science and the data to keep our community safe and save lives.”
