CAMDEN, NJ — The Camden County Health Department reported an additional 13 coronavirus-linked deaths Thursday, and this afternoon confirmed 26 more positive cases.

The aggregate totals stand at 8,337 cases and 514 deaths — 1,828 cases and 308 deaths of which trace back to long-term care facilities.

“As the nation’s COVID-19 cases climb higher each day, Camden County’s growth rate remains well below one percent and our average number of new cases per day has remained mostly steady for several weeks,” said Freeholder Director Lou Cappelli. “This is not an accident; we have achieved incredible progress thanks to the residents of Camden County and their commitment to protecting themselves and each other.

Trace investigations are ongoing for the additional cases announced, officials said.

The county also announced it will enter a heat advisory from Sunday to Monday due to temperatures rising between 100 and 104 degrees.

“It is critical that everyone remember to check on elderly relatives, friends, and neighbors during days like these when there is extreme heat to combat,” said Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services.

Rodriguez advised residents to stay inside as much as possible, keep hydrated and contact a physician if someone in your household is experiencing signs of heat stress.
