CAMDEN, NJ — The chief of orthopedics at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Virtua Willingboro Hospital was named to the first class of Distinguished Arthroscopy Leaders, recently announced by the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).
Sean McMillan, DO, F.A.O.F.O., who also serves as director of orthopedic sports medicine and arthroscopy with Professional Orthopedics for the Virtua Medical Group, joins a group of 21 accomplished surgeons identified earlier this summer as part of the DAL.
An orthopedic sports medicine specialist, McMillan is fellowship-trained in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He's one of the few physicians in the country performing reverse total shoulder replacement surgery.
McMillan is an associate clinical professor of surgery and associate faculty at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as an adjunct professor of biomedical engineering at the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering. He has been a team physician for the Boston Red Sox organization and overseen the medical care for professional, collegiate, and high school sports teams.
McMillan gives lectures across the United States and teaches arthroscopic and orthopedic procedures to his medical peers.
“I am truly honored to be included in this group of Distinguished Arthroscopy Leaders,” said McMillan, a native of Sayreville who now resides in Mullica Hill with his family. “The ability to heal my patients in a safe, state-of-the-art, minimally-invasive manner is the beauty of arthroscopy. It combines precision and passion, and I believe the outcomes speak for themselves through our patients’ high levels of satisfaction.”
