CAMDEN, NJ — A 34-year-old Camden man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly attempted to steal a tip jar from an Atlantic City eatery and flee.

Otis Vidal of Camden, who is currently at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, was charged with robbery.

Roughly ten minutes to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Vidal reportedly entered Celebrity Corner Beach Bar and Grill on the 3100 block of the boardwalk and tried to steal the jar containing customer tips.

"An employee grabbed the jar and attempted to pull it back. Vidal was able to grab a small amount of cash and attempted to flee when a second employee closed the door and confronted him," the authorities said in a statement.

Police claim Vidal was then able to shove the employee — who was later treated for his injuries — and flee the premises. He left the boardwalk, per surveillance footage, and walked along Pacific Avenue before removing his shirt.

"He then returned to the Boardwalk where Surveillance Center personnel advised responding officers," according to a police alert.

Vidal was arrested without incident approximately an hour after the initial call after he was located by Officer John Bell in the 2600 block of the Boardwalk.
