CAMDEN, NJ — Authorities are searching for a gunman following a shooting over the weekend that left a 21-year-old man dead, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Officers responded Saturday to the 500 block of Pfeifer Street at approximately 12:54 a.m. on a ShotSpotter activation -- a gunfire detection system used by the city.

Upon arrival, they found Michael Edwards “lying unresponsive” on the 400 block of Pfeifer Street after having suffered from apparent gunshot wounds, acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Joseph Wysocki said in a press release.

Edwards, of Merchantville, was taken to Cooper University Hospital and pronounced dead at roughly 2:10 a.m.

It was the second homicide of the year.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
