CAMDEN, NJ — With help from units in Gloucester City and Magnolia Cascade, the Camden Fire Department battled a midday fire on Mount Ephraim Avenue on Thursday.

The fire was initially reported on the 1100 block of Morton St., but soon corrected to Mt. Ephraim above Kevin's Beauty Salon.

It took about an hour to extinguish and extended to the cockloft, Local 2578 President Sam Munoz told TAPinto Camden.

"Cockloft is a space above top floor ceiling and under the roof line. It’s a common means for horizontal fire spread," said Munoz.

One civilian sustained a minor injury but no firefighters were hurt, Local Union #2578 said in a statement with the #StaffingMatters.
