10th Annual Chatham Township Firefighter’s Benevolent Fund Family Bar-B-Que and Oktoberfest a Big Success

CHATHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ - Residents of Chatham Township and nearby towns filled the Chatham Township Fire Department (495 River Road) on September 22, 2012, for an evening of food, fundraising, and entertainment.

This was the 10th year of the Chatham Township Firefighter’s Benevolent Fund Family Bar-B-Que and Oktoberfest. This fall event raises money for the all-volunteer fire department. David Bruen, who has been a firefighter for thirty years, said that an important challenge facing the Department is “letting people in the town know we're volunteers.”

Attendees came with an appetite and left well-nourished.  Bruen was manning the grills, which were cooking hot dogs, burgers, chicken, and four whole pigs.  Well over one hundred attendees sat at round tables in the firehouse.

While adults were drinking Oktoberfest beer, kids were enjoying the bouncy house and fire trucks. One fire truck with a hose was a particular success. Children of all ages were running in water spouting from the hose, getting drenched and aiming the hose at plywood houses.

Residents watched Ten Foot Tall, a local classic rock band perform. This year was the band's fourth year playing at the event.

April 20, 2018

Dear Editor:

At the April 16th Board of Education meeting, Board member Sal Arnuk stated: “I am ashamed to see the district at the bottom of the list in per-pupil spending.”  On the contrary, Board member Arnuk should be exceedingly proud of how our Board of Education is able to consistently be ranked as the top school district in our state at the cost it currently spends per ...
