Dear Editor:

It’s hard to believe that after last year’s race it could get any better, yet, with the sun shining and temperatures in the mid-forties, the 7th Annual Chatham Turkey Trot was our most successful race ever!

The event had more than 950 registered runners and raised more than $24,000 benefiting the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Diabetes Research Institute.

The Turkey Trot continues to offer the Chatham community an opportunity to come together to give thanks for all that we have and to raise funds for those dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of others. We remain grateful for the support of our neighbors, race participants, local businesses, the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Department of Publics Works, the Chatham Township Police Department, the Chatham Emergency Squad, as well as our public officials, who have helped to make this a hallmark holiday tradition in Chatham Township.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to The Chatham Turkey Trot Race Committee for their efforts, including: Vin Caracciolo, Jim Connelly, Mike Cooney, Rob Failla, Ashim Gulati, Ron Icart, Jen Kulp, Pat Murray, Pete Nejes, Tom Tether, Corrie Thomas and Heather Quick.

I also want to thank our sponsors, including: Lead Underwriter: Investors Bank, Gold Sponsors: John Hawk - Allstate; Hickory Wine Cellars, Klas Electrical Contractors, Law Offices of Rosemary Stone-Dougherty, Parsons CPA; Silver Sponsors: Dreyer's Lumber and Hardware Inc., ShopRite, Simonfay Landscape Services Inc., Bronze Sponsors: Morris Animal Inn, Sporting Line Sports; Town & Country; Gifts-in-Kind: Bradley & Son Funeral Homes, The Tee Bag, and Road ID.
