OUTDOOR CONCERT SERIES

We are pleased to present our summer concert series on the library lawn.  Bring a chair or a blanket to get comfortable and enjoy the music!  In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held in the Lundt Meeting Room.  The first concert in the series is on Tuesday, July 24 – see listings below.

For preschoolers and their caregivers – no registration required

Mondays, July 8 through August 12

Chess for Kids

Mondays & Wednesdays, July 8 through July 24

This summer’s classes are led by Chess Expert Sean Finn.

Registration required.  Both groups are currently full.

Group 1 – 4 to 4:45 pm           Limit:  12 children

Players with little or no experience with chess.

Group 2 – 5 to 5:45 pm         Limit:  16 children

Players who can finish a game with checkmate.

Explore scientific concepts in a fun way!  Chatham High School students Lea and Jack Casano-Boris lead experiments followed by an explanation of the science behind each one.  This is the second in a series of six programs which you can view on our website.  Registration opens two weeks prior to each program.

Raising Seeing Eye Puppies – 7:15 pm

This event is for the whole family!  The 4-H Seeing Eye Puppy Raising Project will bring puppies to the library to explain how they are socialized and trained by foster families.  The puppies represent many breeds.  When old enough, these dogs will become part of the Seeing Eye program at the Morristown campus where they will be trained to guide the blind and help them lead independent lives.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 24

College Essay Workshop with Alisha Davlin – 3 to 5 pm

Woodstock Anniversary Concert with Rewind – 7 pm

Join us for an evening of your favorite songs from the Woodstock era.  Local rock band Rewind will perform classic rock music from the 60s featuring songs by Arlo Guthrie, Santana, Mountain, Canned Heat, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Band, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Johnny Winter, and Jimi Hendrix.

THURSDAY, JULY 25

Bob Conrad Magic and Puppets – 10 or 10:45 am

A fun, funny puppet and magic show perfect for preschoolers!

Movie Night: Missing Link (PG, 94 min.) – 7 pm

Tired of living a solitary life in the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Link, who is 8 feet tall and covered in fur, recruits fearless explorer Sir Lionel Frost to guide him on a journey to find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La.  Along with adventurer Adelina Fortnight, the trio encounters their fair share of peril as they travel to the far reaches of the world.  Through it all, they learn that sometimes one can find a family in the places one least expects.  Refreshments will be served.  Sponsored by Friends of the Library
