Stories with the Librarian – 10 to 10:30 am

For preschoolers of all ages

Children and caregivers can enjoy a few stories, a few songs, and maybe a simple craft.

Chess for Kids

Mondays, September 16 through October 21.  This series will be taught by an instructor from International Chess Academy.

Registration required.  Register only if you can attend all 6 classes.

Group 1:  Players with little or no experience with chess

4 – 4:45 pm     Suggested ages 5 to 8            Limit: 12 children

Group 2:  Players who can finish a game with checkmate

5 – 5:45 pm     Suggested ages 8 to 10          Limit: 16 children

Rizzo’s Wildlife World – 4 to 5 pm

Ages 4 & Up.  No registration required.

This fun wildlife program features 8 to 10 animals (snakes, lizards, frogs, turtles, insects, and small mammals) as well as our baby alligator!  Children will learn about the animals, where they are from, and what they like to eat.  Best of all, the children can interact with or touch the majority of the animals!  This program is a one-of-a-kind experience!

Read Aloud to Therapy Dogs – 4 to 5 pm

Sit down and read your favorite book to a gentle and loving therapy dog certified by St. Hubert’s.


Michele will demonstrate the styles on a mannequin head and each child will then practice on each other.  Sign up with a friend to partner with and make it fun for both of you!  Come with your own brush and freshly brushed hair.  Limit 20 participants in each class.

Children in Grades 3 to 5 – 4:30 to 5:30 pm

This class will teach easy hair braiding techniques.

Teens in Grades 6 to 8 – 5:30 to 6:30 pm

In this class you will learn basic and intermediate braids, as well as some formal and informal hair styles.

Gen Y Networking Group – 7 pm

Gen Y Networking Group is a forum dedicated to job searching, networking, and career development.  The group is open to all job seekers.


Miss Carol Dance – 10 or 10:45 am

For preschoolers and their caregivers

Miss Carol introduces basic movement to music in a fun and loving atmosphere.

English as a Second Language – 1:30 to 2:30 pm

Thursdays, September 5 through October 24

For those wanting to improve their English language skills, we have started our next cycle of ESL classes.  The program is conducted by LEARN Associates and volunteer tutors for 8 weeks.  Students are divided into small groups by skill level.  Books and other learning materials are provided.  The program is free – all you need is a commitment to learn!  Register online, in person, or call 973-635-0603.

Ⓣ Ⓕ Creating Safe and Affirming Communities for Transgender Youth

Thursday, September 19 – 6:30 to 8:30 pm

Presented by Garden State Equality, this program will teach participants about the challenges faced by transgender youth in school and community settings and how to advocate for change.  Participants will be provided with a comprehensive explanation of state law and school policies as they apply to transgender and gender-nonconforming youth.  The final step of the workshop will provide tools for participants on how to engage friends, extended family, and community in order to create safe spaces and advocate for trans youth in school and in the broader community.  Teens and adults welcome.  This program has been rescheduled from the original date of June 26.
