Dear Editor,

My name is Kathy Abbott, a current Chatham Township Committeeperson, and I am up for re-election on Tuesday. You won’t see my name on the ballot because I am a Write-In candidate. I lost by a mere 20 votes in the June Republican Primary, and that’s why friends of mine asked me to run a Write-In campaign for the General Election this Tuesday

If you care about quality of life and fiscal responsibility in Chatham Township, please Write me in, on Line 5.

I am a moderate Republican who has worked closely with residents on many quality-of-life projects such as improved pedestrian safety through the Safe Routes to School and Complete Streets programs, single stream recycling, and environmental health issues such as pesticide awareness, and I’ve started initial inquiry into a dog park.

In addition, I worked to update the township website, and I ask tough questions about financial transparency and the need for continued merging of staff in the Joint Recreation Dept. and updating the Office of Emergency Management.

Every vote counts.  A Write-In vote for me is a vote for smart, energetic municipal government that is responsive to you.

Steps on Tuesday:

1.    On Line 5 – Far Right Column, press “Write In” button.

2.    Key Board will light up.  Type in Kathy Abbott.

3.    Press Enter.

4.    Go to Line 6 – Vote Mike Kelly, my running mate in the June primary.

Imagine a Chatham Toboggan Ride from the Top of Fairmount Avenue to Main Street

Did you know….
there was a time when Chatham kids could ice skate from downtown Chatham all the way to Florham Park? And that a toboggan ride could last from the top of Fairmount Avenue down to Main Street and beyond?

Those were the days!

This was back in the early to mid-1900s. The Passaic River meandered through grassy meadows and woods on the north side of Chatham. The marshy ...

To the Editor,

I told my daughter I needed to write about gun violence. Know what she told me? “Mom, be sure you’re not too polarizing. People won’t listen.” She’s right. At age eleven she’s figured out that we adults need to be reminded how to speak to one another in order to fix a problem. But I have hope and belief that we can fix that discourse in our ...
