CHATHAM, NJ - CSM Art & Frame will be hosting Seattle-based, abstractionist painter, Maeve Harris, for her solo art exhibition on Thursday, May 18. Harris has chosen to return to her hometown of Chatham for her first local show in over 20 years.
“We’ve actually been selling her work for many years now,” said owner of CSM Art and Frame, Caryn Krueger, owner of CSM Art & Frame, said. “It’s a synergy that after all these years of selling her work, she was actually a Chatham resident.”
Harris’s paintings are located in a variety of private and public corporate collections worldwide. The focus of Harris’s work tends to be traditional, natural subjects, such as animals and landscapes, which she uniquely blends with a more experimental technique. Using her own medium made up of different layers of color and metallic qualities, Harris’s simple subjects are morphed into something much more distinct: they are merged with the abstract, signifying the passage of time and change of perspective.
“We thought it was a fitting time for the event,” Krueger said. “She’s a great colorist and it’s spring; we just thought we have to do a collaboration in Chatham.”
CSM Art and Frame has been serving as a gallery for clients looking for specialty art and framing for 22 years. CSM’s goal is to showcase new artists and special guests, and will certainly be meeting this goal by hosting such a significant event for Ms. Harris on Thursday evening.
“I love bringing art to the community,” Krueger said. “Because (Harris’s) roots and family are here, I would hope that some people who have never been here are going to be longtime customers of ours and become supporters of the arts. I can’t see it being anything but positive for the community.”
Maeve Harris’s work has appeared on the NBC TV Show, Celebrity Apprentice. She has also been represented by New Era as well as Grand Image Limited. Currently, Harris belongs to the national online art gallery, Artaissance.
