About Buddy Ball

The Bambino Buddy-Ball Division was established by Babe Ruth baseball for players ages 5-19 who are either physically and/or mentally challenged. Buddy Ball allows challenged or special needs athletes to develop confidence and positive self-esteem.  It allows them to be part of organized sports and assists with physical fitness as well as their social skills.

Buddy Ball is designed to give everyone a chance to play baseball and have fun. This division makes allowance for a “buddy” to help the player swing a bat, round the bases, catch a ball, etc.

Game Details

All Buddy Ball games will be 1-hour sessions held at 5 p.m. on Saturdays at Lum Field. Sessions will include a 30-minute practice, followed by a 30-minute game. The season will conclude on June 10th.

"Buddies" will primarily consist of, but not limited to, high school-aged baseball players and will be coordinated through the Chatham High School Sports Buddies Club. If you are interested in becoming a buddy, please contact Nick Saluzzi at

Registration fee will be $50 per player to cover the costs of baseball hats, shirts, end of season awards and end of season party.

Any questions should be directed to Buddy Ball league coordinator, Joe Saluzzi
