CHALLENGE Winner Donates Winnings to Y

The Y’s Spring into a Healthier You CHALLENGE 2012 produced great results for members who participated in the eight-week health and fitness challenge.

Members experienced a lifestyle transformation, had fun, reached goals and some even gave back to the Y community.

Libby Vernazza, a winner in the competition, donated her prize money to the YMCA’s Annual Support Fund (ASF), a financial aid program that provides opportunities for children.

“I’ve never felt so healthy, both physically and mentally,” said Vernazza, who recently ran a 5K. “The wonderful staff at the Y encouraged and supported me every step of the way.  I donated my winnings because the outreach the Y does for kids, especially for the Strong Kids campaign, is admirable. I hope other people are inspired to participate in the CHALLENGE and also contribute to such a worthwhile cause.”

“We’re thrilled that Libby had such a wonderful experience and also donated her winnings to the ASF,” said Jennifer Casanova, Associate Health and Fitness Director of the Madison Area YMCA. “She exemplifies the generous spirit and commitment among members of the YMCA community.”

The CHALLENGE is comprised of weekly weigh-ins, including two body assessments, 2 one-hour Personal Training Sessions and one 30-minute Nutritional Session. For more information, contact
