Mark your calendars for Friday, May 22 as the Chatham Athletic Boosters Club will hold its annual fundraiser with a new event – The Boosters Beach Bash at the Noe Pond Club.  Tickets are available for $125 per person and includes hearty hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and beverages, dancing on the beach and fun games all to benefit our student athletes.

Why attend the Boosters beach bash?  It’s a great night out with friends and the money raised goes directly to help fund all of the district’s athletic programs and touches almost 70% of all CHS students.

Although the District’s budget allocates funding to CHS athletics each year, this funding cannot fulfill all of the teams’ various needs. The CHS Athletic Boosters Club – with your help-- fills this gap. In fact, the Men’s Fencing, Women’s Fencing, Women’s Golf and Winter Cheerleading programs all got their start with the financial support of the CHS Athletic Boosters Club.

Last year, the Boosters Club, as the only organization permitted to raise funds for all of CHS’s athletic teams, also funded the following:

$31,000 In volunteer Coaches’ stipends

$13,600 In program fees (team fees)

$ 7,500 For Senior scholarships

$9,000 In team stipends to help with year-end banquets, special events

$ 5,300 For purchases of new equipment and signs

$ 5,200 For Lighting Cougar Night

$3,000 For Fan Buses for students to cheer on their teams

$ 2,900 To offset transportation costs paid by families

$ 1,200 For flowers on Senior nights

…and the list goes on!

Please help us continue meeting the needs of CHS’s athletic programs by celebrating with a night out with friends.  Tickets can be purchased by sending a check made out to CHS-ABC to 14 Yarmouth Road, Chatham.  If you cannot make the bash, donations in any amount at all are gratefully received! If your company has a United Way/Employee Giving Program, please consider allocating a portion of your donation to the CHS Athletic Boosters Club. We are a 501(c)(3) organization and our EIN is 04-3799194.

Imagine a Chatham Toboggan Ride from the Top of Fairmount Avenue to Main Street

Those were the days!

This was back in the early to mid-1900s. The Passaic River meandered through grassy meadows and woods on the north side of Chatham. The marshy ...

Police Presence is the Best Short-Term Solution

February 20, 2018

To the Editor,

There is only one short-term solution that can help protect our children right now. There needs to be a police officer in every school, every day from now on and in perpetuity.

In a perfect world, it would be nice to imagine that there were no private homes that housed military level assault weapons, but that is not short-term reality.  It would also be ...
