Chatham Borough Police Arrest Two Suspects for Burglary; Computer Snatched


CHATHAM, NJ - Chatham Borough Police made two arrests on Sunday afternoon after two suspicious males were reported in the area of Weston and Van Doren avenues.

On Sunday, Aug. 14 at approximately 3 p.m., patrols responded to the area of Van Doren Avenue near Weston Avenue on a report of two suspicious males who were seen entering a garage on Van Doren. Sergeant Daryle Kelly located one male in a car on Van Doren and another on foot in the driveway of 54 Van Doren Avenue.

While speaking with the suspects, he was approached by a resident of Van Doren Avenue who stated that a computer was just stolen from his house. At about the same time Summit Police located a third suspect at the corner of Coleman and Burgess. After an on-scene investigation, two of the suspects were arrested.

They are identified as: Andrew C Boyd, age 20 of Newark and Tamajee D Underwood of Elizabeth. They are both charged with: Burglary, Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, and Conspiracy.

They were both lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of $50,000 bail. The driver of the car, a 26 year old male from Newark, claimed that he had no knowledge of the actions of the other two individuals and was released although the investigation is still ongoing
