Chatham Borough Police: Cyclist Collides with Motor Vehicle at Intersection of Hillside and Watchung

CHATHAM, NJ - On June 25th, 2018 at approximately 4:15 p.m., Officer Joseph Crecca responded to the intersection of Hillside and Watchung avenues to investigate a motor vehicle accident in which a bicyclist collided with a motor vehicle.

Members of the Chatham Emergency Squad responded and provided medical care. The vehicle, driven by Kelly Duda, age 41, from Newton, New Jersey was stopped at the traffic light on Hillside Avenue in a southerly direction, where it intersects with Watchung Avenue. The bicyclist, a juvenile from Summit, New Jersey was traveling in an easterly direction, on the sidewalk parallel to Watchung Avenue. Ms. Duda, intending on making a right turn onto Watchung Avenue, pulled forward to see if it was clear when the
bicyclist ran into the side of her vehicle.

The bicyclist was examined but refused medical attention. The accident remains under investigation.
