CHATHAM, NJ - The Borough of Chatham Council kicked off local Arbor Day events on Monday night by unanimously passing a resolution in celebration of National Arbor Day set for April 27, 2018.
Colleen Truppo, the chairperson of the Chatham Borough Shade Tree Commission, accepted the resolution at the meeting and announced events planned for this month, including a new Tree Tour for children set for Wednesday at the Library of the Chathams.
Truppo noted that Chatham Borough has been designated a Tree City for the past 17 years.
Truppo also announced that thanks to a $14,000 grant, the borough will be planting more than 1,000 trees and shrubs along the new Riverside Trail on Saturday, May 5.
This Sunday, April 29, there will be the third annual Arbor Day concert set to start at 2:30 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church.
