Chatham Boys Cross-Country Places 3rd at Shore Coaches' Invitational

HOLMDEL, NJ - Senior Pat Mortensen led Chatham with a 12th-place finish in 17:17, pacing the Cougars to a third-place finish out of 25 teams in the Varsity C division at the Shore Coaches' Invitational cross-country meet held Saturday at Holmdel Park.

Chatham averaged 17:52 as a team to end with 118 points. Chatham's JV squad placed fifth and the Freshman B team took third place.

Following Mortensen's lead for the Cougars were: Colin Logsdon, 17th in 17:24; Bo Radaam, 38th in 18:03; Liam Cadden, 47th in 18:12, and Liam Hynes, 55th in 18:25.
In the JV division the Cougars finished fifth out of 17 teams with 110 points and an average time of 19:02. The team was led by Paul Malatesta in 13th place with a time of 18:41. Paul Coyne (19th) in 18:54; Luke Malanga (20th) in 18:55; Van Benedict (30th) in 19:14, and Thomas Flynn (36th) in 19:30 rounded out the top five scorers.
In the Frosh B division the Cougars finished third out of 12 teams with 118 points. Alex Williams led the way with a 14th-place finish, covering the shorter 2 mile course in 12:26. John Romano (34) in 13:15; Peter Duffy (40th) in 13:23; Collin Goldbach (45th) in 13:37, and Yuwen Zhang (46th) in 13:34 rounded out the top five.
