HOPEWELL, NJ - Sophomore Cole Ekert shot a 77 to lead the Chatham boys golf team, which finished second to Moorestown in Group 3 at the Tournament of Champions held Monday at the Hopewell Valley Golf Club.
"Played at a very tough course with an unforgiving wind," Todd Ervin, Chatham golf coach, said. "Hopewell Valley Golf Club was quite a test for the young Cougars but they gave a very admirable effort."
Chatham shot 339 at a team with Ekert hitting a 77, Joe Polverino an 81, Timmy Triano an 88 and Liam Bourke a 93.
"I was very proud of the effort the boys put forth during a windy 6-hour round," Ervin said. "Timmy Triano bounced back from a difficult start to post a very respectable 88 and gained a lot of experience."
