CHATHAM, NJ - The Chatham boys ice hockey team is preparing to kick off the winter season for Cougar teams with a 10:30 a.m. drop of the puck Monday, Jan. 18 vs. Kinnelon at Mennen Sports Arena.

It will be the first game for Chatham since its 2-1 overtime loss on March 2, 2020, to Lakeland in the NJSIAA Public C state tournament quarterfinals.

Chatham (11-10-2 last season) will count on 13 seniors in 2021, led by returning 30-point center Ryan Sordillo, who produced the perfect balance in his scoring with 15 goals and 15 assists. He has 22 goals and 25 assists in his varsity career.

It was Sordillo's short-handed goal that tied the game at 1-1 in the second period before the OT setback vs. Lakeland.

Senior winger Declan Curry notched seven goals and eight assists last year. He's backed up by his younger twin brothers, sophomores Doyle Curry (5 goals, 3 assists) and Ronan Curry (2 goals, 3 assists).

Other key returnees for the Cougars include senior Brandon Lupi (7 goals, 4 assists), senior Will White, juniors Tommy Sennett (4 goals) and Tim Triano.

Chatham coach Brendon Herr has three goalies on his roster, junior Michael Park, senior Cullen Stutchbury and freshman Nathan May.

After opening vs. Kinnelon on Monday, the Cougars come back Tuesday night for an 8 p.m. game against Pope John, also at Mennen.
