Chatham Boys Place 2nd at Group 3 Relays in 4x400; School Record in 4x200

TOMS RIVER, NJ - Chatham's 4x400 relay team of Vince Avallone, Jaylen Haye, Sam Viola and Avery Brown placed second out of 34 teams to highlight the NJSIAA Group 3 Relays for the Cougars on Friday at the Bennett Center.

Avallone ran a leadoff leg of 51.6, Haye followed with a 52.7, Viola clocked 54.2 and Brown ran an anchor leg of 51.2 for a team time of 3:29.79.

In the distance medley, Chatham's team of Bo Radaam, Kacper Bardecki, Liam Cadden, and Colin Logsdon earned fifth place out of 41 teams with a time of 10:54.46. Logsdon set a personal record in the 1,600 with an anchor leg of 4:26 for the Cougars.

Avallone and Brown helped break the Chatham school record in the 4x200 relay that they helped set last year. Avallone, Haye, Ian Higgins and Brown established a new Cougar mark with a time of 1:36.46 in placing 12th out of 51 teams. That erased the school record of 1:36.57 set last year by Avallone, Nick Ferrone, Steve Bondurich and Avery.

Other Chatham performances of note:

Team Shot Put: Adam Oare (PR of 42 feet, 0 inches) and Connor Kressler, 10th place at 81 feet, 4.75 inches, out of 38 teams competing.

Team High Jump: Tied for 14th place; Thomas Walsh and Alex Leininger.

Shuttle Hurdles: 13th out of 28 in 34.15:  Ian Higgins, Van Benedict, Thomas Walsh and Jaylen Haye.

4x800: 9th place out of 46 in 8:27.8: Colin Logsdon, Paul Malatesta, Matt Stasiukevicius and Liam Cadden.

Sprint Medley: 32nd out of 45 in 4:05.1: Kristian Roos, Erik Britt, Connor Winans and Tim Higgins.
