CHATHAM, NJ - Either Chatham or Roxbury was likely to come out of this boys soccer matchup feeling good about themselves. It wasn't Chatham.

Previously winless Roxbury scored a goal in the first half and held on for a 1-0 victory that pushed Chatham's losing streak to four games on Monday at Cougar Field.

Eric D'Arminio scored his first goal of the season in the 18th minute and goalie Jason Adamo controlled his penalty area in leading Roxbury (1-3-1) to its first victory of the season. Rob Taglienti was credited with the assist on the goal.

The frustration keeps growing for Chatham (0-4), which has yet to score a goal in 2015 and has dropped three 1-0 games. The scoreless streak for the Cougars is now 320 minutes and counting.

Chatham head coach Mark Maka took his team into the locker room after the game for a closed-door session. He declined to comment on the game.

"We came out on fire and we didn't let up in the second half, either," Adamo said. "I think we're finally starting to find out who we are as a team. This is definitely the best game we played whistle to whistle. Before there wasn't good communication and we weren't finding each other with passes. Today we started to connect as a team and become one."

D'Arminio managed to get the past Chatham goalie Henry Stusnick after breaking in on goal.

"I got a ball on the wing, the ball trickled behind me and I hit it around with my back foot," D'Arminio sad. "I saw I had one defender to beat. I just sprinted by him, got a touch on the ball and it wound up going in."

Dear Editor:

At the April 16th Board of Education meeting, Board member Sal Arnuk stated: “I am ashamed to see the district at the bottom of the list in per-pupil spending.”  On the contrary, Board member Arnuk should be exceedingly proud of how our Board of Education is able to consistently be ranked as the top school district in our state at the cost it currently spends per ...
