To the Editor,

On Saturday April 22nd, the Senior Center of the Chathams held a very successful Community Paper Shredding fundraiser at the Chatham Train Station. I want to thank the hundreds of people who brought us their paper to shred—8,400 pounds of it to be exact.

A little rain didn’t keep anyone away and proved what a caring community the people of Chatham are.  Our Board, staff and other volunteers did a great job of managing the traffic and unloading the boxes and bags of paper.

A special thank you too to our sponsors who generously underwrote the costs of the event so all the donations could go directly into programming needs: Smartly Organized LLC, Janet McKeon Realtor of Keller Williams Realty, Chatham Hills Subacute Care Center and Chatham Disposal.

The Senior Center of the Chathams is a 27-year-old independent nonprofit that depends on financial donations to meet its budget. Last year we welcomed 10,000 visits to the Senior Center, provided 2,000 rides for those that don’t drive and answered 2000 calls for information or referrals on a variety of geriatric needs and issues. Thank you again to all the participants who made this event a huge success.

With sincere gratitude,

Pam Mansfield

Executive Director

Senior Center of the Chathams
