CHATHAM, NJ - According to Chatham Borough Police Chief Philip Crosson, one driver actually slowed down to ask the police what was going on--while he was driving and talking on his cell phone.

That driver was one person who was ticketed by Chatham Police during a four-hour period of enforcement of driving and texting laws.

"We studied our statistics from 2010 and 2012, and 46 percent of our accidents downtown were caused by driver inattention," Crosson said. "It's something we take very seriously."
